Job Description:

Salary Range: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

  • Demonstrates technical proficiency in multiple aspects of excavation & site grading as well as underground utilities for commercial, private, public and state contracts.
  • Supervises crew members and plans/schedules staffing and equipment needs 
  • May assist with deliveries from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure safety, profit, scheduling compliance
  • Ensures customer satisfaction in all customer and inspector relations/interactions
  • Plans and directs work for his or her crew and maximizes equipment utilization
  • Communicates productivity metrics, quality standards and daily performance to crew members and supervisory staff
  • Conducts daily site production and safety meetings.
  • Supervises hourly operations personnel including laborers, equipment operators and drivers
  • Ensures all elevations are correct for proper drainage and utility installations
  • Follows company plans to identify conditions and exposures, proper safety and personal protective equipment and accident investigation and reporting
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other Field Managers, Superintendents and the customer to implement successful project plans
  • Provides on the job training and assistance to crew members for assigned tasks
  • Maintains performance documentation and provides input to salary and promotional recommendations.
  • Administers disciplinary action for crew members and subcontractors as appropriate and consults with the Project Superintendent/Managers as needed for resolution
  • Encourages and promotes teamwork, motivation, people development and retention 
  • Plans and directs work for his or her crew and maximizes equipment utilization
  • Conducts daily site production and safety meetings
  • Projects are ongoing; full-time
  • Locations are within a 30-minute commute from Richmond, VA and surrounding areas


  • Adhere to all applicable safety procedures and policies
  • Ability to communicate in a productive manner with other team members
  • Experience with GPS systems for grading and underground utilities
  • Transportation to and from locations as needed
  • Ability to commit to a schedule with positive attendance
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification is preferred
  • Ability to pass background and drug screenings
  • Required PPE will be provided
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience
