Goodwin William Staffing is looking for an experienced Milling Machine Operator to join our team/work with one of our clients in Northern, VA.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Responsible for control and operation of one or more types of milling equipment.
· Operates milling equipment (Milling Machine) to properly mill asphalt to desired specifications based on usage
· Manipulates hand or foot levers to control movements of milling machine that mills asphalt on roadways and related surfaces such as parking lots, streets, etc.
· May perform other related duties, such as preventive maintenance on all milling machinery.
· The operator is responsible for the efficient working condition of the equipment and is expected to perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
· Keep company vehicle, tools and equipment clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns.
· Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
Preferred Requirements:
· 1+ years of milling equipment operation and related asphalt & road construction experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Thorough understanding of all aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, aggregate size, job specifications, oil consistencies, compaction and other details related to asphalt paving.
· PPE – provided. Individual will be responsible for providing steel toe or composite toe boots.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
· Experience working with construction crews with measurable production goals.
· Must possess a valid driver's license.
· May be required to obtain DOT medical certification based on needs of position.
· The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· Flexible availability to include overtime, possible weekends, and nights.
· Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
